Later we were told the duration of the cruise was 5 and a half hours trip which I did not mind. I was ready to have fun and dance as they played us old songs.

On the lower deck, some were enjoying a game of FIFA and other board games

The views as we passed the islands were breathtaking but what got my attention was the little houses we saw on the islands.

ADVENTURES ON THE DODI ISLAND ..

This is where everything went wrong in the sense that what I expected to see on the island was not what I was met with. The cruise to the island took 2 and a half hours and I was anticipating a lively and well-kept environment. Rather we were welcomed by the dry land with few inhabitants.

We were then informed we had only 45 minutes to spend there so we are to pick the activities well which we did. We went in for the paddle boat, camel ride, and a look at the animals. The paddle boat was short as we had to turn back for others to come on board. I was unhappy about that. Although it was at no extra cost the guy who helped us board politely expected us to give him money.

The next activity was the camel ride. I expected at least 3 or 4 camels to see to us the passengers but to my utmost dismay, it was just 1 camel. On the Dodi Island, The cloth on it was not neat to start and the camel would misbehave and we had to wait for it to calm down. I had my turn which lasted for a few seconds over 1 minute. Not everyone took their turns because we were time-bound.

Next was the zoo. It was dry land with 2 dogs, a few hens, a goat, and a lonely donkey who was separated from the rest of the animals.

I was fairly happy throughout my stay on the island. The animals at the said zoo looked unattended. Many passengers were somewhat satisfied at the sight of the Dodi island. We expected more fun activities and adventures.

Again, there was no seat for visitors, it was a sunny afternoon with nowhere to buy water. The sheds are abandoned, no washroom unless you found your way back to the ship or ask any of the inhabitants. There was no source of entertainment, food, or stalls to sell souvenirs.

What got me worried was seeing the children begging tourists for alms such as money, food, and other things on the Dodi Island . Aside from all that, I had a good time there and laughed at many jokes shared by some of the community folks.

In all, I hope whoever was designing the island returns to complete the job and make it worth the journey by water. Let us pay attention to our tourism industry for it has a lot of revenue to offer the country. Seats should be built with a bar to attend to visitors, a food and snack bar also and most importantly a place of convenience on the Dodi Island.
